Have been running the club now for some 18 or 19 years. We meet at the Scout Hut, Old Hale Way, Hitchin. Herts. SG5 1XL. (signposted outside as Hitchin Rugby Club, use right hand side car park and scout hut is to the right of the main buildings).

We game most things historical,  occasional Sci -Fi/ fantasy Zombie games but hardly any Warhammer 40K or similar (but there are two clubs in the vicinity who do and I am happy to put you in touch with them – they also meet in Hitchin, we are all on good friendly terms and often gather together to support each others events). The meetings take place every Thursday and start from 7pm till late. Occasional Sunday battles are arranged or all day games days if hut is available. Membership pay for hall at beginning of year and is divided equally (generally working out at £53 per year , so that’s a £1 a meeting really – those joining during the year get charged part costs and then that is passed onto next years funds – canteen charge of about £4 per year to provide tea/ coffee etc.).

The meetings for the coming year at Black Wolf Wargames Club start from Thursday 2nd January 2020 and go to Thursday 17th December 2020, meeting every Thursday between those dates.  Meetings generally start from 7pm till late (about 11pm). If you are local to Hitchin, Herts. then why not pop in for a cuppa and a chat and see what games we do. Sunday meetings for larger games are often planned as well. The Black Wolf Wargames club (the friendly club for the North Herts area) will start it’s meetings for the year 2021 in March (tentative start date is 25th). The meeting venue remains the same, The Scout Hut, King George’s Playing Fields, Old Hale Way, HITCHIN. Herts. SG5 1XL. Meetings generally begin at 7pm and last until later in the evening about 11pm. Refreshments are available and generally tables do not need to be booked, although this is preferred. New members are always welcome to attend and we recommend you contact the club chairman before doing so on [email protected]  Obviously at the current time the start date is open to change and the club reserve the right to alter this date should the need arise. Games at the club vary tremendously from the Ancient period right through to Sci-fi and they take in miniature gaming, with almost all scales, and into Board gaming. Many rule sets are used but some popular ones tend to be SAGA / Bolt Action / Sharps Practice / many of the Peter Pig rules sets / Chain of Command and To The Strongest.

The Black Wolf Wargames Club is back up and running as normal now. Meetings are still on Thursday evenings starting from 7pm onwards. The Meeting place is The Scout Hut, Old Hale Way. HITCHIN. Herts. (just off Hitchin Rugby Club car parking area).  The meetings will be every Thursday up till 22nd December 2022.  New members always welcome, so do please call in for a chat and a cuppa. If you need any more information then do please email me on [email protected]  We mainly do historical based games and the most common rules played at the moment are SAGA / Bolt Action / O Group / Sharp Practice / Cruel Seas / Congo, although we will play any set and run the odd Board wargame evening, so quite a mix.

Firstly hello to all,

The Black Wolf Wargames Club in Hitchin is back up and running for 2023. We continue to meet on Thursday evenings from 6.45pm till late (generally about 10.45) at the Scout Hut, King Georges Playing Fields, Old Hale Way, Hitchin. Herts. UK (signposted as Hitchin Rugby Club on roadway and on maps). We game mostly historical battles using a variety of rule systems, although you will find the odd Sci-Fi / fantasy game being played. Most scales are catered for from 6mm to 28mm for land battles but we also game Naval and Air wargames in various scales. Board games are played as well. We are actively seeking new members and would welcome visitors to view what we do. Call in and have a cup of tea/ coffee and a chat, always welcome. As well as our normal meetings we also do large battles on some Sundays. We are also active in attending a few local Museums and shows. We will certainly be at Milton Keynes show in May. We have started the process of planning next years events and meetings. We would be happy to see any new comers who would be interested in joining us for the meetings in 2024. We have meetings running through out the rest of October / November and into December. We have our annual Military Quiz evening coming up soon at the tail end of October, always happy to have visitors with a team just get in contact (Bring & Buy in aid of Poppy Appeal).
