We recently played our third game of Rommel in 6mm. The armies are more or less done, but the terrain could do with a bit more work. There’s an account of the actual game here: https://wargamesasp.wordpress.com/2017/10/25/rommel-breakout/

All figures are by Adler, all vehicles by GHQ. Unit bases are 60mm x 40mm.

Superb job. Those bases are amazing. I like the tanks in the maze fields. Very neat idea.

Your link isn’t showing for me, and I want to see more.  I’ve never seen bases done like that before, each one is like a little work of art. 🙂

I guess you could use the theme of the base terrain to identify which bases are part of the same unit?

Oops, sorry, got the formatting wrong on the link. The report is here: https://wargamesasp.wordpress.com/2017/10/25/rommel-breakout/

With the Russians I started out doing the infantry in groups of 3 with a similar theme, but wasn’t so organised with the Germans. Here’s some of the Germans lined up:

Are you using 6″ squares or 4″?

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get muddy and the pig just likes it.

It is like each stand is a mini diorama. Brilliant. I love the long grass.

I made a ‘blog post on making the bases: https://wargamesasp.wordpress.com/2017/11/08/6mm-bases-for-rommel/

Thanks for sharing your techniques. 🙂

I’m still awestruck when I see the bases.

Thanks very much. I’ve made a second post going through the process with some work-in-progress pics:

The only downside to this that I can think of is that I couldn’t play a game with them, I’d be too busy looking at all the little dioramas to concentrate on the big picture. 🙂

For some reason I only really noticed how wonderfully painted the figures are too on this last series of pictures, absolutely fantastic.

Started on some urban bases. Using a 6mm building by Blotz as the basis for the ruins.
