Does anyone have any info, sources, recommendations regarding Soviet rapid deployment capabilities or forces in the mid 1980’s? If something weird happened in the Mideast/Africa/Cuba back then, did they have any way to get any kind of units/support in real fast?
Thanks,

Yes, big aircraft stuffed with Soviet air assault divisions.

I was wondering if they had a designated force, how big, what composition, how fast (24hrs, 48hrs, etc.)?
Or was it just a “Hey, Iceland just invaded Cuba, we should help our friends, better tell some guys to find their boots” and two months later, some random dudes jumped out of a perfectly good airplane?
This help?
