Great mods to it, really looks like it’s been around the block!
When you had your sale recently I decided to get some Federation tracked vehicles. I’m going to use them as a sort of mercenary force. For some reason these models for me really lend themselves for conversion. Actually, the mini shown is a Cobra not the Python. I was going to use a Python but decided on converting a Cobra’s turret instead. I might redo the storage bin on the back of the turret and get rid of the red bit on the end of the gun barrel. Also, I couldn’t make up my mind whether to make a fuel drum or a rolled up cam net. My sculpture skills aren’t very good so I will teak all this.
I got some Talins and some Scorpions too. So I want all these to have an individual/worn feel to them.
Ice Station Command and Control – Proxima B
The group huddle around the plotting table in the C&C and all listen in as Sheilds gives the brifing.
“Ok, people lets do this. I’ll command the Pathfinder Archer, Gomez you drive. Colin, take Obidiah and Clyde and command Tessa”. All three men nodded. Shields continued.
“McCallum you take one of the Paladins and Daniels you drive. Woods are you Ok with the drones?” He nods. “Good…..set yourself up on the plateau. Trooper Ritter”.
“Yes sir” he replies
“You’ll have to have the Pathfinder as the second Paladin isn’t serviceable. Maine you drive it. You drive the engineering pathfinder and it’s no different”. Says Colonel Shields.
“Where would you like me?” Asks Johanson
“You pick your own ground. It’s your universe” replies Shields.
Some time later…….
Shields settles into his set in the Archer. He checks the fire control system and makes ready the missiles. While his driver, Gomez does her necessary checks and moves the Archer into position on the plateau.
Obidiah drops into Tessa’s drivers set, cowboy hat and all. While Clyde and Colin cram themselves into the fighting compartment and fidget about.
Woods gets comfortable on his spot on the plateau. He activates his first Gydran Drone and takes it high into the sky. Then looks across at Shields’s Archer.
While Ritter and Maine get settled in their Pathfinder. Ritter does the final checks on the GMG.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to shoot?” Asks Maine.
“Not bloody likely, I was lucky to live after your gunner practice”. He says.
Daniels gets the Paladin in position and gives McCallum the thumbs up.
He looks out from the turret and watches Johanson as he disappears into the snowy Wasteland. Then Shields’s voice comes over the comms.
“Ok, once you get a shot take it and keep firing. Use the buildings as cover and let them come in close. Hopefully they will be reluctant to damage any buildings since they might need to capture them intact. We need to wear them down and do it quick. We can also expect to have our comms jammed soon. So we will be fighting independently. Good luck”
They then all waited…….

The Hades walker came into range and as expected the RDF comms were jammed. The two PHR operators looked over their screens and were first to take the initiative. They detected Woods’s drone and powered up the main tail weapon and fired!
Before Woods had a chance to do anything his first Gydran drone was vaporised. Shields was quick to take advantage of the distraction and fired a full rocket salvo from the Archer. The accuracy was spot on and all missiles impacted on the walkers shields. Although there was no visible damage Shields knew that would of hurt their power levels.
“Gomez, get us back into cover. Let’s hope the others can cover us while we do a reload drill” Says Shields. Gomez nods and puts the Archer into reverse.
Meanwhile, Obidiah hits the gas and gets Tessa into position.
“Clip ready! Three air burst rounds! Take it out!” Shouts Colin, from his commanders seat.
“You got It!” Replies Clyde. Eyes glued to the gunnery sights.
The first ABR (air burst round) hits its shields. Soon followed by the last two as
the clip was emptied. Colin looked across at the auto loading mechanism as it worked overtime to load another three shot clip.
“Daniels how you doing?” Shouts McCallum from his position in the Paladin’s turret.
“Good bring us around, we need to give the others some covering fire”
Daniels hits the gas and the Paladin shot into life. She swung the vehicle around as McCallum opens up with the 90mm gun. The walker’s shields soaking up the shots.
McCallum looks though his viewfinder and sees the tail gun starting to move. At first he thought that they were going to aim at him. But instead it targets the plateau where Shields’s and Gomez’s Archer is! A sense of dread over comes him as he sees it fire!
Gomez had moved the Archer out of cover just as Shields was about to let loose another rocket salvo. But the PHR operator was quicker. He knew the Archer was a huge threat. That first salvo nearly halved their power reserve. This time he would be ready. As the Archer came out of cover he fired. The huge gun cutting a large swarth into the plateau. The RDF Archer never shoot a chance as the vehicle instantly erupted.
“We’ve just lost Shields and Gomez!” Cries Colin. He knew the others would have seen the destruction on the plateau.
“Their power must be low” Says Clyde
Clyde hits the traverse and lines the gun up on the walker. Another round burst from Tessa’s 115mm gun hits the walker. Clyde fires the other two, all three shots just impact on the walkers shields. He thumps the screen in frustration.
“There’s no killing this thing” he shouts.
Although the walkers shields are holding. What they didn’t know was with the use of its main gun as well as maintaining shields the PHR power reserve where being depleted. The PHR operator now locked Tessa in as a priority target! Colin watched through the viewfinder as the tail gun swung around in their direction!
“Obidiah!….get us out of here!!!!” Screams Colin
Obidiah hits the gas and Tessa’s 2000 horse power neutron combustion engine roars into life. The tank’s chassis groans in stress as Obidiah puts the Python into a tight turn and tucks it in behind the storage shed. Just as the Hades walker’s lethal main gun fires!
The energy burst cut through the storage shed with ease. Obidiah put the tank in a tight turn. Which helped avoid a direct hit but just still clipped the tank. Like a hot knife thought butter the energy blast cut through the hull. Obidiah was killed instantly and Clyde and Colin faired little better. The fighting compartment stared to degrade as the tanks molecule structure began to collapse. Colin reached for the emergency hutch as a tank caught fire. For a brief moment he felt the cold air. Then he felt like he was flying, then nothing.
Meanwhile, while his drone’s laser was charging. Woods saw the destruction of Tessa on the monitor. He had no idea if anyone made it out or not. Then the walkers main gun moved and begun to target his drone.
“Not this time” Says Woods, not to be caught out again.
He targeted the walker just as it fired. The energy burst shot out from its tail and high into the sky, straight at Woods’s drone!
He quickly took evasive action but the burst caught the side of the drone. Knocking out the gyroscope and sending it spinning to earth. Woods had lost his second and last laser drone but not before he got off a shot of his own.
The drone’s laser hit the walker and went straight through their shields! The shot hit its tail causing it to break and fall limp to the ground.
McCallum saw the damage through his viewfinder and smiled.
“Ok! Now we are getting somewhere” he shouts. “Daniels bring us back around let’s take advantage”.
Daniels hits the gas and closes the distance. McCallum firing the 90mm as they went.
Meanwhile, Ritter and Maine had remained in reserve. With both Shields’s Archer and Obidiah, Clyde and Colin gone, they swung into action. Ritter watched as McCallum’s Paladin moved in for the kill.
“Ok, here’s our chance. Thats back him up!”
Maine couldn’t wait. He hit the gas hard and the Pathfinder Ranger’s engine roared into life.
“Pay back time!” He shouts from the drivers seat.
Ritter squeezed the trigger of the GMG. Multiple grenades spat out exploding on the walkers skin. Then Ritter saw that McCallum was targeting one of the legs. He too fire at the same leg, emptying the weapons magazine. It worked! The leg shattered in half, bringing the huge Hades Walker to a crippling halt.
Cheers went up inside both Pathfinders. Ritter had emptied the GMG’s magazine and shouted to Maine that he needed to do a reload drill. Meanwhile McCallum continued to put shots into the walker from the Paladin. Daniels brought the Paladin to a halt and looked back at McCallum
“Great job boss, now finish him” she says.
McCallum smiled as he waited for the main gun to load. He looked out his viewfinder and saw movement. It was a PHR soldier and he had his weapon levelled at the Paladin. Daniels saw him too and hit reverse to get the Paladin into cover.
The high power energy shot hit the Paladin, penetrating the hull. Unfortunately the energy shot, although badly depleted in energy struck Daniels. She yelled in pain then collapsed, slumped at the drivers controls. The PHR soldier, using nearly all his power reserve fired twice more. The first shot hit the turret taking out the main gun and narrowly missing McCallum. The second cutting through the Paladins side armour and causing a fire. McCallum picked himself up after dropping down from the turret. He rushed forward as the vehicle begin to fill with smoke. He grabbed Daniels and pulled her out through the emergency hatch.
She was in bad shape, the wound from the energy burst was getting worse as it continued to break down her cell structure. McCallum wasted to time, he took a vile of GX gel and stabbed it into her. Immediately the gel went to work to revitalise her cellular function. Soon a battle of good and bad was happening in Daniels’s body, destroying and repairing cells.
Ritter and Maine both saw McCallum and Daniels struggle.
“We need to help them” He shouts to Maine
But before Ritter had chance to target the PHR soldier with the GMG. He fired, although the energy burst penetrated the Ranger’s armour. Both Maine and Ritter were unhurt. Unfortunately, the energy burst cut through the vehicles wiring loom. In an instant the vehicle lost all power and came to a halt. The interior caught fire and both Ritter and Maine wasted no time in exiting the destroyed IFV.
Ritter clicked off the safety catch to his minigun. He soon found his target and fired! The PHR soldier, realising that he was in trouble switched his power from weapons to shields. Just as A full burst from Ritters minigun hit him. Unfortunately for him, because he had been firing his weapon on high in order to penetrate the Pathfinders. It left him with low power reserves and the second minigun burst penetrated his suit, nearly cutting him in half. Blood spurted out as he crumpled, dead to the ground.

Aw dang, our guys are getting way chewed up. Those PHR walkers are tough as nails!
"I saw this in a cartoon once, but I'm pretty sure I can do it..."14/02/2018 at 15:21 #84523
McCallum held Daniels as he injected another vile of GX gel into her. For a moment it seemed to be working. She looked looked up with weak eyes and shook her head.
“Sor…sorry….boss. Haaaave to sssit…….this one…..out”
“Try not to talk” replied McCallum
Then she died in McCallum’s arms.
Ritter and Maine came running over and Maine tapped McCallum’s arm.
“I’m sorry” he said.
Before McCallum could issue further orders an energy shot hit Ritter. The effect was delayed as Ritter’s minigun took the brunt of the energy. The weapon quickly started to degrade and fall to dust. It was the second and last PHR soldier!
Ritter knew he was done for. He could feel the pain stabbing away in his chest cavity. He could feel his breathing becoming harder. He reached into his vest and pulled out a grenade and looked at both McCallum and Maine.
“Run you fools” He says
While he still had strength in his legs he rushed towards the PHR solider. He primed the grenade and throw back his arm. Before he had chance to throw it a second energy burst hit him. It proved fatal and Ritter collapsed dead.
Maine looked in horror.
“Noooooo” he screams
But what he didn’t see was the grenade which Ritter had dropped!
The blast threw Maine into a pile of snow. McCallum on the other hand, was more prepared for the blast. He throw himself down and escaped the worst of it. He was soon on his feet and took in the scene. Maine was lying facedown in the snow and not moving. Ritter and Daniels were dead and the PHR soldier was coming towards him! The only weapon he had on him was his pistol.
He drew it and emptied the magazine at the PHR soldier. It seemed to of done very little. Then the huge soldier stopped! To McCallum’s surprise he turned away!
What McCallum couldn’t see was Johanson! He had targeted and fired at the PHR soldier. Which, although had little effect stoping him, did get his attention.
When Johanson energy burst hit the PHR soldier stopped targeting McCallum and selected Johanson as the priority target!
The PHR soldier looked through his weapon sights and fired at Johanson. The burst hit him and Johanson collapsed into the snow.
McCallum needed a weapon and though that his best chance was the armoury in the Ice Station. Taking advantage of the distraction he ran into the Ice Station and straight to the door of the armoury. But it was locked! Then McCallum remembered seeing the access keycard on the plotting table in the Command and Control room. He run into the C&C, grabbed the keycard from the plotting table and turned to exit. There….standing in the doorway was the PHR solider!
McCallum stared into the white faceless figure staring back at him. It was like a Mexican stand off. McCallum standing there with his pistol in hand, hanging down at one side. The PHR soldier with his weapon hanging down at one side.
As the huge figure started to enter the room. McCallum made a dash and took the only available cover behind the plotting table. The PHR soldier turned and raised his weapon!
Suddenly the room erupted in MG fire! Rounds shot in from the passage way. Screens shattered and consoles exploded. Round after round slammed into the PHR soldier! Most were soaked up by his shields. Then…..several rounds hit his suit as his shields failed. Badly wounded he crumpled to the floor!
McCallum peeped over the plotting table as it flicked and flashed. He couldnt work out who was firing…Then….
The AB drone entered the room. It’s twin MG’s still smoking. Woods’s looked at the screen from his position up on the plateau. He saw the PHR soldier then he panned the camera around and caught sight of McCallum.
“Howdy there boss” he says, joyfully.
Their comms were still down so McCallum couldn’t hear Woods’s talking.
“Sorry boss…a bit late I know”
McCallum looked at the drone and into the camera lens and smiled.
Then the PHR soldier started to climb slowly to his feet. McCallum stared in horror. Woods watched on his screen then looked down at his controls. He looked across at the drone’s weapon status. “Empty” flashed back at him. There was nothing he could do. Or was there?
With the comms still down he needed to get a message to McCallum to get the hell out of there. McCallum looked at the drone, looked at the flashlight on the side. The flashing catching his attention. Expect it wasn’t randomly flashing. It was morse code! Three simple letters. R…U…N……run!
Then it struck McCallum like a hammer. The AB drones are equipped with a self destruct to prevent falling into enemy hands. With the drone out of ammo Woods was going to detonate it! He run passed the PHR soldier, passed the drone and into the passage way. By this time the PHR solider was on his feet. He picked up his weapon and levelled it at the drone. Woods was watching on the screen. He couldn’t wait any longer and just hoped McCallum was clear. His figure hovered over the detonate button. Then he pushed it!
The explosion ripped through the C&C and through the Ice Station. Nearly taking the roof off! The blast lifted McCallum into the air and dumped him in the snow………
………..McCallum’s vision soon started to come back. His head hurt, in fact his whole body hurt.
“Boss…..Boss..” came the sounds
“Major!…..McCallum….are you Ok?” Came Woods’s voice.
McCallum laid on his back and looked up into Woods’s face.
“I’ve given you a shot of that GX gel stuff. Should start feeling better in a jiffy”
McCallum could feel the pain subsiding and his strength returning as it revitalised him.
“That was quite a big you did. Give me more of a warning next time” he says.
Woods looks down and smiles. He was about to say something when a muted sound hit Woods. Blood spurred out from his neck and Woods fell forward into McCallum!
McCallum rolled Woods onto his back, their positions now changed. He looks up and sees a figure and then a sense of dread. The RDF Trooper stood grinning back at him.
“Nice day to go killing RDF filth” he says, in his usual malicious way.
He raised his snug nosed pistol straight at McCallum and pulled the trigger!
To be continued…..14/02/2018 at 17:52 #84545
Ritter gets hit and goes down……..
Johanson sniping at the second PHR solider……..
McCallum and the PHR soldier squaring up to one another in the C&C……..
Woods’s AB drone shooting up the C&C………
Woods helping McCallum outside the burning Ice Station……….
The notorious “The RDF Trooper” is back………..16/02/2018 at 07:51 #84621
That a turn of events, I can’t wait for the conclusion!
The RDF sure don’t have it easy, alien mechs, traitors and super soldiers, all at the same time!
http://lasersandbroadswords.blogspot.com My project blog16/02/2018 at 19:14 #84697
Unfortunately for The RDF Trooper the snug nosed pistol wasn’t really the weapon of choice in cold weather. It jammed but The RDF Trooper didn’t care. He quickly dropped the pistol and drew his combat knife. He much preferred to use knives over firearms anyway. He hated the RDF and all it stood for. But the one thing he did like was the Chayonets that were attach to the Enfield rifles as standard issue. He loved cutting up that RDF tart in the rec room. Now he will enjoying using this knife on McCallum. Not a Chayonet, but it’ll do.
Like lightning he struck first. McCallum, still suffering the effects of the explosion didn’t respond as quickly as what he would of. The RDF Trooper brought the knife up underneath McCallum’s field vest. The knife went in and McCallum felt a huge shooting pain, but remain standing.
The RDF Trooper grinned and was about to attack again. When McCallum, not willing to be beaten by this creep, counter attacked. He caught The RDF Troopers hand with his left and used his right to break his arm at the elbow. The knife fell to the ground and McCallum followed up with a head butt. It shattered The RDF Trooper’s nose and he stumbled back. His right arm flapping and broken and his nose pouring with blood. He then collapsed in the snow.
McCallum went to move forward to finish him but the stab wound stopped him. He winced with pain and sank to his knees. He fumbled around in his field vest and pulled out a vile of GX gel and stabbed it into himself. Immediately a feeling of rejuvenation went through him as the gel began to stem the bleeding and repair cell damage.
McCallum was about to stand up when he saw that The RDF Trooper was on his feet. In his left hand was McCallum’s own pistol! He had found it in the snow. McCallum dropped in when he was thrown to the ground when the C&C exploded. Now he was going to get shot by his own gun!
The RDF Trooper grinned, staring at McCallum with burning hate. Then he raised his left arm to shoot. An energy burst struck The RDF Trooper! His left arm dropped as he fired and the shot went harmlessly into the snow. His chest hurt, his eyes started to bleed as he lost sight. He fell as his leg gave out. Slowly his DNA degraded bit by bit and soon The man known only as “The RDF Trooper” was no more then dust!
McCallum instinctively turned to Woods. He was still alive! McCallum grabbed more GX gel and stabbed a couple of viles into Woods.
“Hang in there” he says as he hears footsteps in the snow. He turned and saw Johanson!
“Thought you didn’t fight other people’s battles” Says McCallum
“Well, I had a change of heart. Lucky really, that was the last bit of energy I had left in my weapon” replied Johanson.
McCallum was about to thank him when a groan got his attention, it was Maine!
Maine rolled over and sat up.
“Paddy! You lazy git! What are you doing asleep in the snow” Shouts McCallum joyfully.
“Oh, my head!” Groans Maine.
With Johanson taking care of Woods and Maine. McCallum does a search of the area. The only other survivor, amongst all the mess was Colin. Somehow he made it out of Tessa when the tank was hit. He was in bad shape and only just conscious. McCallum used the last of the GX gel and hoped it was enough.
“Did we win?” Asked Colin, weakly.
“Yes, my friend we won. Thanks to you and Tessa” Says McCallum
“She’s a good tank. They don’t make them like that anymore”
The Raven dropship came out of the gate and started to descend. Annie looked out at the smoke coming from Ice Station.
“Command and Control, this is Viper 2 come in” Says Annie into her comms.
“Colonel Shields do you copy?”
“Captain Fouquet do you copy?”
“Good evening, nice of you to drop by” Came McCallum’s voice.
Annie smiled and put the Raven in a landing cycle.
With Woods and Colin in as stable condition as they could make them. Maine with only minor injuries he turned to Johanson.
“Come with us” Says McCallum
Johanson shook his head.
“What will you do?”
“Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine” Says Johanson.
The Raven lands and Annie and two RDF soldiers jump out and all greet each other.
“Is this everyone?” Asks Annie
“Yeah, just the five of us” replies McCallum
Annie looks around, confused.
“I only count four” she says
McCallum and Maine look around and see no sign of Johanson.
“Where’s Johanson?” Says Maine
“Who?” Asks Annie
“Never mind….Long story” Says McCallum
The two RDF soldiers load Woods and Colin into the Raven. Then McCallum turns to Annie and Maine.
“Let’s go home” he says.
Mars – RDF base – General Sinclaire’s office
General Sinclaire looked up at McCallum.
“How’s the stab wound Major?”
“A lot better thanks sir”
“And Woods and Colin, how are they?”
“I’m told they should both make a full recovery sir”
“He wants to leave engineering and he’s put in an application to join the RDF”
“I’m sure he’ll make a fine addition, since we are so short staffed. Some good news to come out of this” Sinclaire continues.
“What is troubling is how Cerberus has infiltrated the RDF. You know this man and can confirm that he is dead.” Says Sinclaire, he turns the computer screen and McCallum sees the face of The RDF Trooper.
“Yes sir, I watched him die”
“Good, because he’s wanted for multiple charges, including genocide, rape and extortion. I’ve started an investigation into how he got past our security. Then there’s this new threat….PHR…Post Human…err..”
“Post Human Race sir.”
“Yes, that’s it. A very technology advanced race that’s hostile. To be honest, I’m not sure we have the strength to counter this new threat Major”
“Well, sir we do have a new ally”.
“Ah yes this Johanson and he’s still unaccounted for?”
“Yes sir, but I have a hunch that’s he out there watching.”
“Well anyway you look like hell Major. Take a few weeks off, you’ve earned it. Dismissed Major”
With that McCallum smartly brought himself to attention. Saluted and marched out off General Sinclaire’s office. Sinclair sat back in his chair and sighed. He closed the last top secret mission report concerning Proxima B. Dragged it across and dropped it into the encrypted file marked “The Genesis Findings”.

That ending is just perfect!
Well done dude, and thanks to the huge amount of effort you have put into all of this here for us.18/02/2018 at 12:48 #84806
Thanks ppl, it was quite the marthon and evolved into something bigger than I originally intended.
As for season 2; I do have something up my sleeve as it happens Check out the General section for more info on that.
First though, I need to rework and paint some models. So plenty on my desk; then……Maybe turn my attention to the next season.
