    Hi Ivan,

I love 5Core3 but I also love the solo system in 5parsecs2, but then there is also Starport Scum and UFA and I’m confused with so many skirmish rulesets available (I’ve just bought UFA as well).

I want to play a solo campaign set in XCom universe in which I’ll be playing with up to 12 men vs. teams of 2-3 aliens, with exp. and attibute and research progression. What do you think it would be the most appropriate ruleset for this?

    Cheers,

    J.

Realizing that it’s not a Nordic Weasel product, I will say that Grunts, from Rottenlead, is a good one for this kind of game. You could treat your XCOM team as “special” characters to buff them, and the aliens as groups.

You know this is the Nordic Weasel forum though?

Yes. I realized after I posted since the forum subname is outsized by the thread title by about 400% on my mobile – I should have checked closer. If I’ve done wrong, please just delete the post – no controversy intended.

I always thought that UNITY Field Agent or Clash on the Fringe would make for great X-Com rulesets. Going outside the NW wheelhouse, Savage Worlds would also make for a pretty swell X-Com wargame. PM me if you want a copy of MML’s X-com sourcebook for SW.

It’s all good, you can mention other stuff on this part.

For a non NWG title, I’d echo Savage Worlds: It’s an RPG sure, but it started as a mini’s game and has a full tactical sub-system included. It’s also easy to play.

To the OP: Did Jason sort you out on the mailing list or are you still wondering?

Thanks for your help Christian. I’m now with NW rules and don’t want to get into something different but I’d love to read about XCom if it can help me for my campaign game.

    Cheers,

    Javier

Love me some XCOM. Even went as far to start work on a miniatures project myself, but didn’t get past the human side. Wrote up a bit of a background to my project as well. Might be time to get this rolling again….

And then he comes to the sudden realization that he kinda hijacked the thread! Sorry folks, didn’t mean to move the topic away from Nordic Weasel!

I am interested in trying different rules for XCOM…what I am gathering from the responses, the Nordic Weasel rules most suited are Clash on the Fringe. I like printed rules as opposed to pdfs, and Clash can be obtained in printed format, but it looks like the expansion material is all pdf…is that correct?

    It’s fine mate 🙂

Correct. The expansion bits are all quite small, so I didn’t think it worth submitting to lulu or the likes.

What is all the expansion material was offered in one volume…would that be worth going to a print method?
