Given the national traits and force generators in Five Men In Normandy, how would I rate the Japanese and US Marines for skirmish warfare in the Pacific Theater for use with FiveCore games? I own all versions up to 3rd edition, but not Five Men In Kursk yet.

Thank you for any and all suggestions.

The couple of times I’ve done Japanese, I’ve done the following:

Does not fire rifles over 18″ except when acting as a sniper.

Treat any roll below a 3 as a 3 when brawling.

When moving into close combat, ignore 1’s on shock dice and treat a 6 as a 1.

So, to make sure I understand, when a Japanese soldier is moving into close combat, he treats rolls of 6 as 1, and rolls of 1 are ignored, during Snap Fire but not Guard Fire (because Guard Fire only uses Kill Dice and is automatic when the Japanese soldier enters the 4″ proximity to the Brawl target.)

Tangentially related: on page 28 of FiveCore 3rd edition, it first states that the lower result of the Brawl goes out of action, but then has a table that indicates winning by just one is a Forced Back result, not out of action.

OK, so I put the whole thing together as a one page PDF to use the Imperial Japanese in games of Five Men From Normandy: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hdbuvklmhn49v6r/AADsRox7GGC3LoBOs123G8Aga?dl=0

I certainly will. I am working on terrain now, and will start the OpFor later this month.

The close combat table is correct, losing by 1 is supposed to be a force back.
