It wasn’t unknown for soldiers and generals to change sides during the course of the war & particularly between the first and second civil wars, when a number of the more moderate Parliamentarian commanders changed sides, but it was less common in the heat of battle. There were Scottish examples too, perhaps most notably the Great Marquis, who started off opposing the English Royalist army as a Covenantor commander during the Bishops Wars.
There was one very famous example in battle though, the ironically named Sir Faithful (!) Fortescue https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faithful_Fortescue who changed sides during the battle of Edgehill. I can’t think of other specific incidents offhand, but there’s enough precedent to make it a possibility.
