Turns out that this is a more interesting question than one might suppose. Looking again, I find LPK schemed the trumpeter uniform the same way through out the era, rather than the simpler early form that Viskovatov illustrates. This is something that they might be able to support based on the annual allocations of material. And sure enough, reviewing the text I see they found provision of nearly 12 yards of tape for a trumpeter through out the era. So, no changes in the trumpeter’s decoration – it’s like the later Viskovatov illustrations. Furthermore, LPK scheme tape on both the front and rear of the dolman sleeve.
Looks like I have some more revising to do…
