Hey folks!
Quick update.
I’ve been working on some rules for scenery and terrain (hopefully have some rules up for testing soon). There’s been 3 basic principles I’ve been working too, what do you think, anything I am missing?
1. Should effect movement and line of sight.
2. Damage Reduction (sometimes for both sides)
3. Cancel or reduce momentum based bonuses and other effects
1. Movement/Los
Fairly easy here, though I am working to a ‘random’ reduction rather than a set ‘reduce by x amount’. Also rules for clearing a path (which allows for specialist troop types later). For example, a thick hedge may reduce movement by D6, but afterwards there is a gap Bases can move through for free.
2. Damage Reduction
There are no rolls to hit/miss or ‘saving throws’ in LoM. Damage is simply calculated and applied. There will be a reduction to this amount, and sometimes for both sides (two Bases fighting with a large wall between them will reduce both sides damage and make combat less deadly).
3. Cancel or Reduce effects
Many Bases have innate effects. Heavy Cavalry for instance get a +8 Bonus from their momentum. They need to get up a gallop for this as it is based in a large part on weight and speed. Where a Base cant meet its requirements because of terrain, its going to lose its bonus.
