If you accept that speed of formation change permitted the French to retain mobility for longer before adopting line formation and that this was important in early Napoleonic warfare, then how you handle that depends on scale. If you don’t, then clearly you don’t need to handle that but this thread is not on that question and the point serves as an example.

Yes, I was treating it as an example.  The question is how to represent a battlefield quality or advantage, whether that is perceived as national characteristics or simple tactical superiority.  Often it seems that folks simply tag on a modifier or make one side faster etc. without asking whether that change actually mimics what was seen on the battlefield or how the commanders thought about those particular elements… which is a major component of the OP questions.
