I like the range of outcomes that can fall from 2D6, rather than the more random range of D6. Though in armour combat systems, where a 2D6 is adjusted by say the firepower value (or differential) of a gun or armour, then the range of values available to the designer can still be a bit tight as the bell curve makes a result of 7 (common) quite different from 9 (rare) and certainly 10+ ( much rarer).
With RF Reloaded, even with a revised To Hit / Penetration system, one is still restrained to some extent by the Light / medium / heavy type classification of gun / armour, though it does carry advantages for ‘fast play’ type systems.
