I like the compression techniques that create different bas relief results from a single piece of XPS foam. But according to Gerard of Shifting Lands and Jeremy from Black Magic Craft, the Styrodur (BASF) brand of XPS is a bit different from the Corning and Dow brands that are available to us in North America. The Dow and Corning versions cannot be impressed as well as the BASF version. The pressed foam seems to rebound much more. Does anyone have experience with this?
That’s right, depending on the brand it has a different flexibility index, from what I’ve tried I’ll tell you from worst to best…
White XPS (Foamboard)
XPS Black (Foamboard)
XPS Pink
XPS Blue
XPS Beige
XPS Green (Shifting Lands)
In Spain the one that is difficult to get is the Green, because you have to ask them to send it to you from Germany, and that raises the price.
