I used to find painting much more of a chore before discovering dark wash/dry brush highlights.

It took me much longer and the product was pretty crappy. Now my stuff looks better and goes faster. Plus I’m longer in the tooth. Cartoony close up looks better at three feet than taking a lot of time doing subtle shading. Mind, I still have a tendency to do subtle shading. I have to fight the urge.
