Just discovered that the source of much of my problems is using the Duck Duck Go browser, which hides internet searches. Google not fond of them. My problems were getting worse, unable to even upload my own photos. Switched to Chrome and that problem went away, can also upload images from Wikipedia Commons.

Caught in the crossfire.
