Not WW1, but I have had WW2 storm troopers on a battlefield in Spain in 1809.  They had to engage an Allosaurus for their French and Dalek “allies” before Boudicca showed up with her naked Britons, Sharpe and his riflemen, and some space marines.

 

All the French uniforms were impeccably dyed the emperor’s specified indigo blue despite white jackets being more likely due to shortages of indigo.
