AI is in the long term a very destructive thing, even if just to quickly design a gaming scenario. The learning curve for just about any art or craft, be it writing, painting, sculpting, or wargame design, really requires all of these little opportunities for the journeyman artist to hone their rudimentary skills in order to gain proficiency. If you let AI do it then you only get a regurgitation of the existing body of work found on the internet, nothing new is ever created and you deprive yourself or another the opportunity to build their skill. Synthesis of something novel requires real intelligence and critical thinking, not AI, plus a whole lot of perspiration in practice. There is no short cut. All we get from AI are collages that do not assist getting new art.

I agree, and weirdly I don’t find AI at all “easy” to use. It’s way easier for me to just draw or write what I want than to try to filter it through an AI interpretation. And what AI gives you as a product is never what you really want, just “close enough,” which is ultimately demoralizing to an artist because they compromise their own ideas to the output of a particular algorithm. I tried it on a project yesterday to see what would happen and the product was ridiculous, and I switched to just doing it myself anyway.

I can see its potential for a lot of things like compiling and searching for information but I haven’t seen it do anything I’d call genuinely creative or truly interesting.
