Yeah Frontiers had a horribly written backstory and a few others drawbacks. But it was a great core design and the factions were different, well balanced and at least the Robot one had some fairly novel units. Always thought it needed some better terrain and more scenarios. Love to see what you come up with.
Yeah the Heroes of Normandie series left me cold. It wasn’t as interesting or as tactically complex as Frontiers and the square grid was highly limiting. They had good mechanics and strong production values that was paired up with an unfunny and at times irritating inclination to try to be humorous and whimsical in ways that clashed with their products – the Devil Pig products were clearly riddled with the designers’ inside jokes and did not translate well. I see they did a 40K skin on the system and then evidently went out of business shortly thereafter.
