I always try to play a game or 2 of a new rule set before I get invested into it.  I used to love Necromunda back in the day, and was all set to jump back in once some friend started playing the new edition.  Luckily I played a pair of games and decided that it just wasn’t for me anymore.  I guess I have just moved on from that 80’s style game mindset. (that and the min-maxing drives me nuts).

So yes, I always try to play a game or 2 first.
