Couldn’t agree more. When I first read the Horse & Musket rules I noted down a lot of tinkers that never made it into the rules after I actually played them. I’m a fan of his Napoleonic rules so if I wanted a more detailed game I would use those. The point of the one hour rules is written in the title!
