It got really interesting at the top of the tree when there was a struggle for leadership of a territory. Each candidate had to possess rigdharma ( meaning that their father or grandfather had to have had the position) each had key groups of supporting clans who wanted them to succeed. It began with negotiation, moved on to to intimidation or assassination and if that failed to open war. Sometimes candidates sought outside aid but that could easily backfire.
Sometime this year I’ll do a post on the Irish political/military year as it has great campaign potential.
