Our noddy suits were the green ones. Later we had DPM ones. The only grey ones that I saw in UK service were the charcoal liners worn by aircrew under their flying suits. They were not robust enough for wearing when carrying out normal work because they are effectively just the lining of the green or DPM ones and ripped easily.

Cheers, yes I’m familiar with the aircrew liners.  You used to see the grey ones all the time in RAF training films and ‘career office’ films such as ‘Watchdog’ and we’d still get the odd one issued in training in 1989.  When I got posted it was all bottle-green, with the odd DPM one coming through the system.  I remember that the Americans also got issued with a lot of our DPM suits in GW1.
