Not exactly my era, Sam, but isn’t this the time when the Gothic tribes go traipsing off to the steppes, learning to ride horses in industrial quantities while their old neighbours still in Germania are bulk infantry armies, just a notch better equipped than the fellas who quarrelled with Varus in Augustus’ time?
