I dug up books by both authors & whilst I didn’t particularly like S. Thomas Russell (tries to hard to be A-M & is not), I quite like Dewey Lambdin.

He strikes a few false notes in his dialogue by injecting a little too much “period flavour” but is not writing with his illustrious predecessors looking over his shoulder.
