<groans> not the pub analogy again?
If you ask a direct question in the pub you aren’t addressing a potential audience of thousands, 75% of whom may be dimwits.
<edit> and what Ruarigh said.
Yeah, but when you ask a question on the ‘WWII’ section of a wargames forum of a website patronised by wargmers, you aren’t shouting your question to an audience of thousands, you are muttering it to a select few. Maybe not a ‘pub table’ but no larger than a fair sized dinner party.
When during a dinner party you ask ‘Would anyone like some more Mini Kievs and some Lambrini, or shall we move straight on to the Vienetta?’ I think you are allowed to give the chap who loudly replies ‘I LIKED Jar-Jar’ a very odd look.
People should be encouraged to show some self-control. I am a major offender, but I don’t expect anything but contempt for being so.
