I’m still reading the book and still thoroughly enjoying it. It’s completely changed my understanding of warfare of the period (which admittedly was pretty limited). I was particularly struck by the amount of scope for independent action that seems to be have given to captains in charge of companies in certain situations. I had always thought that the battalion was the basic unit of manoeuvre and command on the battlefield but it seems that even among the hat companies this wasn’t always the case. Has anyone come across any rules that seek to replicate this (at a bigger than skirmish level)?
