It is bendy but it works, for the floor areas the risk is that use will create damage to it and it is very non-forgetful to damage.  However I would consider the plasticard option and then add a layer of pva on top (after you inscribed it and before you do your painting) to make the surface a little bit harder (do not add to much as that detail will be lost).  I think you should make a trial piece and apply some mild aggression and see how it goes.
