If you don’t already, you should really get a copy of Lester Grau’s “The Bear Went Over the Mountain: Soviet Combat Tactics in Afghanistan”.  Excellent read for the Soviet war in Afghanistan, & great source for scenarios

Also, Ostfront’s rules Hind & Seek (Soviet-Afghan War) seem to me pretty good [ caveat: I’ve not played them, just read through] for the conflict
