So the Empire have something to smash castle gates open with.
Dark Elves are known for thinking gunpowder crude and base.
So instead in true chaotic thinking, they have turned to slavery and cruelty.
They have some of these to help with the less subtle aspects of warfare.30/10/2021 at 18:36 #164031

I do love those green guys – takes me way back to the classic D&D troll days!
Much better than that smelly gun powder – oh wait a mo…02/11/2021 at 21:27 #164149Rusty-CyborgParticipant
The trolls are a great addition to the Dark Elves!
Really like them in green too03/11/2021 at 08:42 #16415403/11/2021 at 13:31 #164158
On the painting bench.
Some Dark Elf Harpies and 2 units of 20 swordsmen to help swell the ranks.
(figures just arrived and being prepped to go on the bases)
Started painting my unit of Ogre Mercenaries.

“Has it gotten steamy in here, or is it just me?”
Are you building these forces in a manner of “this equals that” for balanced overall armies, or is it more of an “oooh, shiny” aggregating methodology?

Until the steam tank it was a sort of balanced arms race, not sure what to do about that though now…
Maybe the trolls can give it some grief…?03/11/2021 at 13:39 #164162
Actually, if my cannons are anything to go by, the tank will explode before it does any harm to the enemy.03/11/2021 at 21:17 #164203
Actually, if my cannons are anything to go by, the tank will explode before it does any harm to the enemy.
Sounds like most of my old Skaven weapons. Much more dangerous to my troops than any enemy heavy weapon…04/11/2021 at 13:33 #164233
Mayhaps them dark elves could have a dragon with a bit of a cold. Chance of a sneeze causing it to pop, or some such.

Steam Tanks are peak Empire to me – every single battle report in WD back in the day seemed to have one alongside the War Wagon

I have a war wagon in a state of being built!!
In order to try and get more painted and cos I care less about how the Dark Elves look compared to the Glourious Imperial troops.
I am cheating and using a black primer.
I will try a few and see how just leaving the primer as the black top coat looks.
If not terrible it will speed up the DE painting by quite a bit.15/11/2021 at 13:16 #164699
Oh yeah so I painted those and upon close scrutiny they are not quite as good, but for the purpose of playing with painted models and given they are not my beloved Empire troops they are just fine.
I will be sharing my Ogre mercenary unit soon, just need to finish the basing and decide on the name.
(Martyns Marauders or Morrsliebs Marauders)
I drew inspiration from the film Flesh and Blood and they are led by Martyn the Magnificent.
He strides into battle, at the centre of Morrsliebs Marauders, his brightly polished armour gleaming, his huge two handed war cleaver swinging and his personal back banner of gold and the blackest ash.
Morrsliebs Marauders are the most magnificent of all the ogre mercenary companies as they are well trained and disciplined.
Their bright (garish?) scarlet uniforms bind them together as a true unit of soldiers and Garak the Blind carries the company banner which features a stylised motif of Morrslieb and is adorned with a silver and gold relief of the dread moon itself. (Oh and some enemy heads hang off it too).15/11/2021 at 17:43 #16470315/11/2021 at 21:43 #164716

Nicely painted and a nice introduction to their leader. I do like the original Ork face on his banner 👍

I was pondering what to do on his back banner, and whilst not quite in fitting with the theme, it is a classic image.
It was also surprisingly easy to paint too, which was a bonus!18/11/2021 at 09:36 #164800
Cos I am all about the warhammer:
A hand drawn map of The Empire like my old Conan one, some old White Dwarfs for nostalgia (and rules), some chocolate, a Slaanesh mug, a Countess Dracula t-shirt (Our games are set in Sylvania) and an actual Warhammer!!18/11/2021 at 09:51 #164801ian pillayParticipant

Change of fluff to some degree.
My original idea was to have troops from Ostermark.
I painted up a couple of small units and at the time they were ok.
TBH I have gone off them and will retire them from the army.
I will still use them, but most likely in small skirmish games as local militia and what not.
So these guys:
Will be replaced with these guys:
The pike like the others will be from Talabheim and the halberd/billmen from Stirland.
This also means my army will comprise on 2 proper provinces, Stirland and Talabecland/Talabheim, making it easier to manage.20/11/2021 at 16:18 #164914
What’s that art two hander wielding Marienburg lady on your wall? Are there digital images of it?

Anyone any suggestions for a 10mm Gotrek and Felix?08/12/2021 at 10:09 #165774
Found me a Gotrek base model, added hair from a different model.
Greenstuffed more hair/beard and an eye patch and made a nose chain for him.
Will get painted asap.
In the meanwhilst, anyone have this Copplestone Castings they wanna part with?17/12/2021 at 16:19 #166076
Another unit of Talabecland pike done and more Stirlanders.
This time rather than the awesome Stirland banner they are flying the banner of The Auld Ryding, which is where many of my games will be set.
And just the grass to do on these Harpies:21/12/2021 at 10:02 #166208
Got me some new character models for my Empire army.
A converted Dwarf from Cromarty Forge and an off the shelf Manling from Copplestone Castings..22/12/2021 at 08:30 #166244
Love it all – looking forward to seeing Gotrek and Felix painted!
this is certainly firing me up to actually get cracking on my stuff!

Having sold Crom’s Anvil I no longer needed the nice warm cosy spare room for casting.
Samantha has been working in the shed the last 2 years so I decided it was only fair to swap.
I am now in the shed and am making it more ‘me’.
Hopefully when things are done I can get back on with painting stuff.
However that is no excuse for you!!

The SheShed will now be the HeShed SheShed? Good news is now you can be louder without fear of waking anyone in the house, though I hope you have a space heater for those chillier times.

2 heaters and 1 fan!!
I am on the scrounge again.
I MAY be doing a sort of 10mm Mordheim type thing and I want about 5 or 6 models per side. I need a few from Magister Militum but am loathe to buy big packs when I only need a couple from each. Anyone got any of these they can spare for a few quid:18/01/2022 at 11:59 #167236
