ParticipantHmm, I’d think new topic, as this topic seems to be more general and a new topic could be more specific. Plus, new topic equals more stuff to have to keep track which is good for the insanity.

ModeratorCertainly not the best paintjobs, but at about 7 seconds per skeleton to do the bone colour, I don’t care.
The contrast paints let you get a shaded model in next to no time.
The wood and metal I did the normal way, paint ink wash and drybrush.
Anyway, I have painted something in the first time in ages, so I’m happy.
Basing next, the banner will be plain black until I decide on a design.12/05/2023 at 14:53 #186115Darkest Star Games
ParticipantHey that’s not a bad result at all, and you can’t argue with the time it took either. You could probably do another 300 in 30 min!

ParticipantThe new gaming room looks fantastic and there plenty of room on the shelves for more figures…..

ParticipantFrom the photos they look great, especially all grouped up like that.
Will they be augmented with archers and skelehorses?

ParticipantA “Plague Cart” would be a nice touch though I suppose you’d have to scratch build it.
Fossilizing nicely.

ParticipantNow that is a cool idea. I have one of those models somewhere. £2.50. Those were the days!

ModeratorI am enjoying the undead, they are so quick to get painted, admittedly they are not painted to anything more than tabletop standard, but hey, that means playing with them which is the whole point right?
Next up are some skull chuckers. I added a green stuff crossbone as they seemed a bit wobbly up top.
White primer.
Contrast paint, though in this case unlike with the skellies, a quick drybrush as these have flat areas where the contrast paint pools.22/05/2023 at 16:07 #186451Darkest Star Games
ParticipantLove how sort of wonky they look.
Can you imagine trying to teach a skele how to operate a catapult? I bet that would be a frustrating job.

ParticipantThat’s a “hot” paint job on the wizard. Nice one 👍

ParticipantWhat every happened to undead archers?
When Tomb Kings came on the scene the ‘normal’ undead lost them and I missed the reasoning behind the retcon…
Love the new wizard – hope his hair stays away from the candles on the cowl…

KeymasterThanks!
Not sure on undead, the Tomb Kings are Nagash related I think and a different undead from Empire undead which are local undead for local people?
I am sticking mostly to what was around in 3rd edition circa 2512 IC.
So none of this Tomb Kings, Ogre Kingdoms malarky etc 😛
I have a small unit of undead archers, though with such a dire BS I don’t expect much from them.

ParticipantTail vs rump bones – the classic issue.
For me – horses (and wolves) just look daft without tails even when dead…

These are local undead for local people, there’s nothing for YOU here!
I have been looking for good 6mm scale options for the plague cart and skull chucker myself – it may be a mix and match task, as I also don’t want my undead going too far towards the Egyptian look.
