    Hi!

I’ve started a small 1/2400 napoleonic naval project and would like to build some terrain – mainly a piece of coast to play amphibious operations. I guess I can scratch build a coastline, but buildings might be more difficult.  Those have to be very small… I might try also building them from scratch, but are there any available commercially? I’ve heard that some people use the Irregular Miniatures 2mm buildings, but scale wise they are quite off – do you know how they look with 1/2400 ships?

I’d be grateful for any hint!

    Cheers,

    Thomas

Langton miniatures do a whole range of port like buildings, harbour pieces, fortifications, dockside accessories etc, I have quite a few and they’re really nice and reasonably priced

EDIT: actually they are 1200th scale so might not be suitable however, if youre prepared to use 2mm stuff then you may want to look at the Langton stuff too

Thanks, I’ve seen the Langton buildings on their web site but assumed that they would be too large for 1/2400 – what do you think? Are they reduced in size for 1/1200?

TBh im not sure how they would look,  in the following very quickly taken photos the white house on the dockside is about 6mm up to its eaves and the doorway is about 2.5mm if that’s any help:

Actually now that I compare them to my 1/3000th (albeit WW2) ships the smaller buildings don’t look too bad, and I imagine would look better with 1/2400 stuff, but the larger buildings are well off.

Thanks a lot for the images! Hm, I might try the smaller ones… but first, I’ll probably give scratch building a try…

    Nice paint job btw!

Try also Navwar or Heroics and Ros. They have a range of 1/3000th terrain to go with their naval range (not sure who owns it now).

    Cheers

Thanks for the hint Kieran, I didn’t know about the Navar buildings – seems they have at least some for the age of sail.
