Probably never saw service but it could have, and like the Crusader, I adore the way it looks.

Anyone make a nice Covenanter in 15mm?

It never saw active service, a few went to Egypt for evaluation. The rest were retained in the UK for training.

Zvezda did do one in 1:100.

Yeah, I figure it’d mainly be for some sort of contrived scenario or for fun.

And there was me wondering why a 17th century army was being discussed in the WWII forum.  Doh.

As NCS mentions, there’s a Shapeways version. Done by Fitz, who some of you might know from LAF & The Guild. http://www.guildwargamers.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=43616 with a link to the shop.

It’s on my ‘buy one day’ list.

As noted above, they were mainly used for training in the UK, but they were produced in relatively large numbers (approx 1700). They do feature in a number of contemporary films most notably ‘The Way Ahead’ and ‘They were not divided’ – the latter partly as Guards Armoured were equipped with Covenanter before they got Shermans.

Outside hypothetical uses in e.g. Tunisia or Italy, you could use them in NWE in their bridgelayer configuration (merely remove the turret and replace with a bodged up bit of bridge).

One saw action… It was bombed by the Luftwaffe in Canterbury. 🙂
