I have a nice variety of buildings for modern Middle Eastern conflicts, but am starting a project set a hundred years or more in the future, and I am looking for 15mm sci-fi buildings with a Middle Eastern feel as I plan to use the current buildings mixed with future ones. A requirement is lift off roofs (allowing interior access) and preferably something prepainted. I don’t mind MDF/wood ones I would have to assemble, or thin walled resin…metal is probably out and I am not a fan of paper buildings.

Brigade has a range, but they do not appear to have lift off roofs.

Anything out there that might work?

    Thanks!

I was going to suggest the Brigade range, but they are solid resin.

As an alternative, I’d suggest investing in a whole heap of sci-fi ‘widgets’ to decorate rooftops, making your existing Middle Eastern buildings appear futuristic.

    Things like:

    • Moisture traps
    • Satellite dishes
    • Landing pads
    • Flurescent signs (check out the various ‘made for Infinity’ ranges out there)

These can be made on separate bases, and dropped in and around your buildings to easily change their tone, without making them unusable for historical scenarios.

“The Baggage Train” has some nice afghan buildings that have lift off roves. I think the only one that doesn’t is the chieftains tower? Reasonable price too.

I would have thought that The Scene buildings would be spot on for what you’re looking for, as Mike suggested.

If you asked nicely, he’s probably be happy to paint and base them for you, and even add some of his nice little sci-fi widgets as well.

Brigade are great but they are indeed solid. Some do have hollowed out interiors but not the lift off roofs. I’d second The Scene. Gamecraft in the states also have suitable buildings in both resin & MDF but again a lot of their resin bulidings are solid. Some aren’t though. http://gcmini.mybigcommerce.com/

A mixture of buildings from various manufacturers including Brigade, Peter Pig, Combat Wombat, Mayhem, Critical Mass Games & Gamecraft.

I’m with Splod.  Use the same buildings, just sci-fi them up with greeblies, different windows, etc.  Micropanzer has both resin and metal building bits like windows and doors and garage doors, etc.  They don’t seem to be on his site, but if you contact him I’m sure he can work with you.

I’d also suggest that solid buildings can be quite functional on the edges of the game.

Save interior detailing for the buildings around the objectives

Splod – grand idea! There are plenty of folks making these types of accessories.

The Baggage Train and The Scene buildings look pretty darn good for my purposes as well. Perhaps The Scene a bit more so, then add other accessories.

    Thanks, folks!!

I recently finished my own 15mm Sci-Fi Colony project, I initially looked around for resin buildings which had lift off roofs, but the lack of and price of the few I found put me off, I then somewhat reluctantly turned to MDF and i’m really glad I did.

I found a shop on e-bay that sold 15mm desert/old west buildings from £2 upwards, they were not the best quality but a little work with the craft knife and they were fine, I also bought some stuff from Blotz  http://blotz.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=23 and The Miniature Architect  https://www.theminiaturearchitect.com/  , the Blotz buildings are really cheap too.

To make them more interesting I simply added various bits from the bits box, mainly old plastic tank/AFV parts from larger scale models, plus any old pieces of suitable household junk, for some variety I bought some GZG accessories(Vents etc) and was given a load of Antenocitis Workshop vents/doors etc(you can still find these for sale here and there).

The results can be viewed here: https://ablogofwar.blogspot.co.uk/2017/07/gruntz-15mm-sci-fi-project-11-colony.html

And if you go back over the previous Gruntz project posts you will see the other buildings I picked up from e-bay/blotz

Further to my initial suggestion, GZG have a nice range for exactly this purpose: Ground Zero Games

Darryl I am more than willing to paint some for you. I do have some new ones coming out in about four weeks. They are pretty much the same but I have added lots of bits to them, there are also three new larger buildings be added the range.

There will also be a damaged version of each be the end of the year.

Mike – Sounds good to me (the offer to paint some up). I only need perhaps 5-6 buildings. I would probably prefer to wait to see your updated versions with the bits added.

I was going to send you a PM, but I guess I am doing something wrong as I can’t seem to find that functionality?

No worries mate.  I hope to get them finished soon. Once the masters are finished I will post a few pics.

    Cheers
