Evening all,
With all the movement and reactions of a stunned mollusc Project Crusades spues forth another unit.
This time is a 12 figure Fireforge Games Teutonic Knights set which has been made up as a mid 13th Century Hospitaller unit.
Using the Battle Flag Decals to make life “easier” these took some doing but here is the finished unit.
First game expected sometime in the future !

Very nice!
I see you have a bluff old traditionalist as your horn/trumpet man:
‘Wear a stuffy Great Helm you’re joking! Nowt wrong wi’ a nasal lad. Think on.’
Then again I guess he’d have a hard job blowing a horn with a Great Helm.
Are these the plastic ones? They are lovely whatever they are – you’ve done a great job with them. Thanks for showing us.
Cheers,
Guy, the figs are from Fireforge (the plastic ones), good question re the horn player and the helm, never really thought about it before.
Regards Ken

I suspect a lot of soldiers (possibly more the ‘serjeant’ class than the top nobles and knights) kept wearing what was available and only moved to the latest helm or armour a long time after the first appearance of a new and better style.
They are lovely figures and I am now trying really hard to think of a reason for not buying some.
One good one would be that I wouldn’t do as good a job on them as you have.
Lovely figures and you’ve done an excellent job on them!
Guy, I’ve frequently looked at these figures and wanted to buy some. But I have found a good reason not to……heraldry!
I have to confess that I have taken a slightly cavalier attitude to heraldry in the past .
I have 15mm early fifteenth century armies which have made do for Owain Glydwr’s rising and Wars of the Roses in extremis, and have heraldry which is, how shall we say, ‘impressionistic’ rather than strictly representative of each particular noble and his retinue and followers. Nobody has complained so far!
But thanks for the excuse! It will do for now!
