Abwehrschlacht
ParticipantI finished off another base for Blucher, it’s the 2nd KGL Brigade in 6mm. I had a few sleepless nights about what to do with the base, and I am not fully happy with it. But it’s finished for now!
There’s more info and pictures on my blog:

Thanks for reading!

ParticipantDon’t worry about the other skirmishers. They’ve been detailed off somewhere and are fine! That is a very attractive unit and you should be rightly proud of it.
Is the odd angled base required in Blucher? Or is it just useful to you for measurements?

ParticipantHa ha, thanks William, that will do as a good excuse!
The base is Blucher specific and just shows the firing angles with the notches on the side and the centre point of the unit with the small square in the middle.

ParticipantJust getting ready to do these guys in 6mm for Black Powder, so it’s great to see them. What uniforms are the skirmishers using?
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!

1st or 2nd KGL Light Battalion, one assumes.
Essentially the same (in 6mm, at any rate) as British 95th Rifles.

ParticipantAs Not Connard Sage says, the KGL Light Battalions. Both equipped as the British Rifles.

SpectatorHello Abwehrschlacht!
I would not worry about how you based the skirmishers. Most people now use 8 skirmishers to represent a battalion of light infantry on a 60mm x 30mm base regardless of what actual formation their in. So your 15 figures clearly does that for the two battalions on your larger base. I’ve rarely seen anybody represent the formed troops held in reserve on a base. I did it for a few units that normally were used as light troops, but only for that particular battle because they were all formed and I simply wanted to represent their diversity, not their actual formation. Nobody who has ever played that battle with me really cared and only a few even noticed. Some liked the look, but honestly I would not do it again as to me it kind of looks odd. Your base looks perfect to me, I wouldn’t change a thing. Another great addition to your growing collection.
Best regards,
Glenn

ParticipantHello Glen!
Thanks for that, I am happy with how the base turned out. However, I was looking at my first couple of bases, which were the guards. They had a brigade of only two battalions with skirmishers and are classified as ‘understrength’ for Blucher. As they were my first bases, I modelled both with two really big battalions, as I was getting a feel of how I wanted the basing to go. In hindsight, I think this base of KGL would better represent the Guards; two battalions of formed infantry and a cloud of skirmishers, but this is something for the future.
It’s all a learning process!
