I’m 99% sure I’ve got this right (at least for my period of knowledge):
a) the 2pdr gun in AT role had AP & HE rounds available;
b) tanks with the 2pdr only carried AT for stowage reasons, something to do with cartridge size
Is this true throughout the use of the 2dr in tanks? In a conversation, someone said the situation for tanks changed (in time for North Africa) and HE was carried and used.
Then I got to thinking, “could a tank crew scrounge a crate of HE off an AT Bn and use it in their guns?” Anything actually preventing this? (notwithstanding having an ammo crate rolling round in the footwell 😀 )
