It has been a week since my last post (games 6 to 12) and I was on track, playing another 6 games in 6 days – playtesting solo friendly ancient rules and programmed opponent. No rules changes, a few tweaks to army lists and the programmed opponent. Lots of fun. At the moment I am a few days on and one game behind (but that is for another post). The dry reporting of the games, a few pictures and lessons learnt along the way is at this blog post:

Shaun, I like the shield wall rule, easy implementation and smiled when you got concerned about something (cavalry proximity) that you had already taken care of when designing the rules.
The 30 remains an impressive commitment.
Yes – I was surprised that I had thought through the implications of a rule a year or two ago and when it came to playtesting it worked, forgetting that I have actually thought though the implications! I have spent a lot of time with these rules over the years – I still look up the odd event that comes up about every ten games or so that I cannot remember and is not on the QRS, and find the answer is in the rules. The mechanisms seem to be hanging together and I am tempted to expand the designer section by another page explaining why I have chosen the way different troops types interact.
It is the end of day 21 and I have a few minutes to go on game 20. So I am still in with a chance to finish 30 games in 30 days.
Thanks Shaun !!!
