Here’s the first horde of barbarians to fight my Imperial Romans: a bunch of nasty, unwashed British hooligans!
Chariots and light cavalry are out in front in two commands, while the infantry is divided into three commands behind them. Bare nekkid fanatics are in a column on the right (proportionately, the biggest penises in wargaming: small, but well formed).
Behind them, Queen Boudacious leads the cavalry reserve.
From the front.
The Queen and her select warriors. The front four units are medium cavalry and the back two heavy cavalry. Yes, I know historical Brits didn’t have that but a) these are fantasy Brits and; b) those units can double as more or elite medium cavalry or Germanic heavy cavalry.
Close up of the infantry mass.
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
Duuuuude, now that is a right proper horde! Incredible work, really looks the part.
"I saw this in a cartoon once, but I'm pretty sure I can do it..."
On a 20cm x 20cm baseplate. The width of five DBA elements.

Very very nice.
We need a thumbs up icon!
Have you seen any decent fast play rules? Last time I was using 2/3mm the games dragged on for ages due to the number of bases on the table.
That looks awesome!!!!

Ancients aren’t really my bag, but those are fantastic, really eye-popping.

You really know how to make 3mm look attractive, to the point that the scale looks perfectly competitive with all the 28-32mm eye candy out there.
I am going to try Triumph!, Hail Caesar, and To the Strongest! as fast play rules, Andrew. But if I want REAL fast play, I can just tack these onto some paper DBA movement trays and play straight up DBA. That whole horde would be about 17 DBA stands using 15mm basing.

Thanks, Rhoderic, but they are not THAT good. Mathieu paints ‘em better. 🙂

“I say, this is interesting! There appears to be a large orange hedge moving towards us!”
