Planning a game for Fall In in Lancaster, Pa in November:
A Gentleman’s War
An Old School game played with shiny toys soldiers with pink cheeks and glossy coats, with excellent manners and little regard for fussy detail. It’s 1897, the year of the Diamond Jubilee. The damnable Froggies have taken the opportunity to sneak across the channel and invade England with their red pantaloons and questionable cigarettes! But John Bull will face the Gallic threat. Hip-hip-hooray!
H.G. Wells has been invited, Bring your own cucumber sandwiches.
I do all my own stunts.
Oh My !!!! Looks like great fun, Howard !!!
There’s something very liberating about glossy toy soldiers in a deliberately stylised game where simplicity and an archaic feel is paramount. It’s hard to sweat over the details when your soldiers have a blob of pink on each cheek.

Excellent! 1897 was also the centenary of the last time they tried it. 🙂
(As my sig commemorates…)
