Have a chance at playing a game in a few weeks. So I thought I’ll set something up in the time I have. Decided on Starport Scum. Taken from my PHR Post Human Race story. This time the off world colony of Proxima B is under PHR attack. This is going to be the starting scenario and is going to feature my first go at airborne units. I haven’t given much thought to the opposing PHR units but I have plenty of time to work that out.
The story and featured units……
The presence of PHR units have been detected. The off world RDF outpost garrison calls a near FOB for assistance and RDF-A (Regional Defence Force – Airborne) units response.
But before they can get there a small PHR ground force takes out the RDF AA defence battery. Killing all but one of the outpost personnel. This allows a PHR stealth attack fighter to attack a water convoy. Destroying the lead water tanker and the scout PathFinder. However the squad inside are all fine and bailout. Then the RDF-A units arrive and the escort gunships taken down the PHR bogie. But the PHR ground units are still out there, somewhere. Plus there could also be more PHR air units. The Cerberus Corporation has a small research and refuelling base and are reading a Mech. The small garrison of three engineers have been watching the situation.
The objectives and assets.
The outpost only has one survivor. SSgt Keller, he’s made it to the roof and requesting assistance to get the AA launcher working again. This will have to be done if further PHR air units are to be eliminated.
The three Cerberus employees could, if they are so inclined provide cover with their Mech. Which is armed quite heavily. But Cerberus being Cerberus are a arrogant and cocky bunch with little regard for others.
Two of the three armed water tankers are undamaged. These will need to survive as water is critical and in short supply. The scout RDF squad are ok but are exposed and will need assistance to move. Both the remaining Pathfinder Ranger and Paladin are ok.
The area is too hot for the RDF-A units to land. They are low on fuel and will have to return to the FOB ASAP. They just have enough fuel to cover the Raven as it lands to deploy the three light PathFinders under its belly. These are the transport for the paratroopers. Who, once they parachute out of their dropship have to make to the vehicles quickly.
Then the game will begin……

Sounds like a great setup. I like the use of the 10mm minis with the 6mm ones. Is the split tailed VTOL gunship also from DZC?

That’s a beautiful setup.
Tired is enough.09/07/2019 at 10:23 #117660
I wish I had cash to drop on DZC miniatures to mix up with my 6mm stuff.
The story looks good, and it is interesting seeing miniatures based on transparent bases. I hadn’t considered that.09/07/2019 at 10:29 #117661

Yes, can’t remember the name of it. I did a minor conversion to it. It was was a prop shaft aircraft but I didn’t like the blades. So turned the engines around to look more like thrusters. Also altered the tail arrangement so the models sits flat on the table when troops are disembarking.
As for the set up I can’t take credit for all of it. Since it is some of Angel Barracks’ former stuff. You will be please to know Mike. That I have kept up with your legacy. Of using Robinson’s fruit shoot lids. It’s what I made the canopies for the paratroopers out of.

I used some very thin clear sheet for the bases of some 28mm figs (as they were to be played on both summer and winter tables as well as urban and the buds didn’t want the basing to look odd) and it really worked out well. At first it looks odd but you get used to it and save a mint on rebasing for later conflicts.

Aha, I thought I recognized the color schemes and had been wondering who had snapped them up from him. Glad they went to a good home where they’ll get some use!

I got the idea from a thread on here. Someone provided a link to a shop which sells a good selection of them. Just don’t do what I have done though. I’ve been redoing all my miniatures and sticking them on the new clear bases. Lots of em. Vehicles, 6mm, all my 15mm and more. I have just realised that the bases come with a protective film! Not one is glued to the base, just the ruddy protective film which I didn’t know was on there.09/07/2019 at 21:00 #117731
Well, at least they’ll be easy to remove!

Hit upon the head and eaten by Mariners? Horrible way for a straw to go… especially if were into baseball.
But oh yes, the melted straws do give an awesome alien effect!
