Tony Francis from Brigade came to the cabin to play a short game on a (for me) unusually small table with some of his new Lightning Division models coming up against my Zaporoskiye Brigade, all made with models from Brigade. It’s fair to say that it didn’t go as I expected: this is what happened…
I guess ya’ll like to see explosions!
It was a fun game – read more about it here07/05/2018 at 17:36 #90062
Very interesting. Do you think things would have been significantly different if Tony’s infantry had come in a turn or 2 earlier? Or would the C&C issues have been even worse?

If the infantry had turned up earlier, he would have had the Lt with them so help shout at his troops and – just as usefully – add to his Leadership points ‘pot’ to allow more flexibility: in game context, even if the infantry had stayed hidden waiting in the wings, the Lt could have helped the Captain do some organisation, give some orders and do some ‘shouting’ at troops.
I think in the post game analysis we said:
A) if he’s had his guys turn up earlier and if he’d brought them on from two of the alternative angles to split my defenders fire, it would have helped him.
B) if he’d found that pesky sniper
C) and if, of course, the two times he’d hit my Mammont heavy tank he’d done more than “blow the bloody tracks off” (said in a Michael Caine voice) it would have helped!08/05/2018 at 15:27 #90127
Ah, hindisght and fickle dice…
When does he get a replay?

Looks like we might have a big game at the Maidstone club on 25th of August: lots of time to paint more troops!08/05/2018 at 19:57 #90148
Buy me a plane ticket and I’m there! Haha!

Oh no, you’r enot going to trick me! I show up and BOOM it’s winter in May with 3′ of fresh snow! I won’t be responsible for that!
With Brigade churning out the new vehicels, will there be another Crucible OoB book coming? What forces are there left to cover?

Yeah – we went from “The hotest May day on record 28 degrees” to “rain rain go away, come again another day” all within 48 hours.
Ya couldn’t make it up…10/05/2018 at 20:59 #90295
Brother, I live in Texas, where we can have all 4 seasons in 1 day! I feel ya! So what about new Crucible books…?

I think the very last of the original print run has to be sold (which won’t be long now, I don’t think) before anything will happen there….
Sure, I’d like to do a revised, aimed at primarily 15mm (with 6mm as a second fiddle) version with any typos and so forth fixed. I’d like to include all of the new forces that are on the website. I’d like to include all of the 5 supplements (properly paginated into the main body of the rule book) and make it a one off, all complete item and then stick it on Wargames Vault or something (so people can order a printed version or a PDF if they want). I’d want to replace as much of the photography as was appropriate with current vehicles (so Brigade for the most part – though not exclusively).
Sadly, that’s not entirely my decision (though it’d be me doing all the work. And it’d be a fair amount of work…)14/05/2018 at 19:53 #90475
So how do we get that decision made? Whom do I need to lobby or poke in the rear with a sharp stick? I would love a combined book, for realz.
