ParticipantThough this scenario was rolled up over two years ago, I just played it the other night. “The Mouse Roars” and the Soviet Union finds itself caught in the Uwanda-Mugabia war.
The after action report is at:

Thanks for looking.

ParticipantI may have said this before, but your terrain is stunning. You’ve got a good eye for it – looks exactly like Africa! (With the caveat that I’ve never actually been to that continent).

ParticipantThanks Tony, mostly inspired by photos of Kenya. I don’t doubt that I’ve got as wrong as right.
I’ve added a bit of fluff to my blog as a follow-up to this weekend’s battle.
“A satellite watched a seemingly unimportant event in a place called Mugabia. For a few American intelligence analysts, it was another boring day of watching nothing happen in a place no one cared about.
Then, via real time satellite imagery, in a room in Washington DC, an intelligence team watched a battle unfold. Quietly watching as a column of Soviet vehicles exploded one by one, and the men in and around them silently died in the surreal imagery.
The Soviets had barely pulled out of the compound, when the fighting erupted. The attack executed by those with whom the Soviets had just met. The ambush was obvious, but what precipitated it was a mystery.
After a few minutes, helicopters arrived, with one touching down, while another circled the area. Survivors were picked up and whisked away…”

Again, thanks for looking.

ParticipantI’m going to leave a comment on your blog, but great looking game, enriched by the narrative. Top marks.

ParticipantThat’s a whole lot of casualties, maybe even enough to make the western news programs!
I too was hoping the Soviet Colonel would get out alive, he had a good balance to him. I am sure this treachery will not go unpunished from the Hammer and Sickle folks.

ParticipantYeah, lots of casuaties, almost all of the shooting was at extremely short range and not a lot of cover. Plus, both sides left most of their wounded.
I rolled the dice several times, working my way through 19 possible actions or reactions from the various parties. For a change, things have moved in a predictable manner. The next battle will be between Soviet and Uwandan jets. Hoping to get it on the table tomorrow.
Thanks for the all of the comments.

Putting together the next ground battle now. It’ll probably be a couple of weekends out, before i can get anything on the table.
Thanks for looking.

ParticipantThat really was fast and furious. I’d say it’s still not a good trade for the Soviets propaganda-wise if the eyes of Western observers gaze that way.

ParticipantStrikes me that it seems to have played out pretty authentically if recent developments are right
