Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it…
Making a ladder for an accessory pack.14/09/2018 at 14:40 #99343
I’m sure it is sellable, and if it comes in a pack with other stuff even more so. Plus, it looks really goo so far. Will the fibrous stuff not get stuck in the mold?

I am hoping the varnish will stop that, but as long as the mould works, then maybe the first metal pour will burn out any rogue strands that remain ?21/09/2018 at 10:09 #99869
So whilst the new figures are at the casters, I just thought I would remind you all of the figures so far:21/09/2018 at 12:26 #99873
Having just seen these ‘in the flesh’ for the first time yesterday, (thanks Michael!) – really impressed with the character of the sculpts, as well as the painting skills on show in the photo above – am getting excited about more to come for expanding the range – is there a page yet for the Crom Funder on the new Mercenaries? – or do we just send you looted Aquilonian gold as an advance?

The page will be updated as soon as I have more news on the moulding and have the mercenary camp complete, very hectic in RL at the moment so alas that could be a while yet.
Glad you like the figures though.21/09/2018 at 14:59 #99876
It’s great fun seeing them all assembled in one shot. I always look forward to seeing the new releases. Lovely work, Michael!22/09/2018 at 14:10 #99924

Someone asked me what colours I use for my buildings and bases.
I thought I would pop that up on here.
The buildings get 2 coats of Crafters Acrylic sandstone (DCA14).
Then they get a slightly watered down covering of Coat d’arms Super Wash Mid Brown (176)
Then they get a couple of drybrushes of the original Sandstone colour.
And that is the basic sandy colour for them.
Some have extra detailing and so on, but I suspect that is less what the person was asking about?
The bases on my figures are, like the figures and the buildings, undercoated in Humbrol Dark Brown (29).
Then the actual bases gets 2 coats of the Sandstone above, then a more watered down version of the Super Wash Mid Brown.
Then a drybrush of the Sandstone, then a few areas are picked out in Wickes’ Sand, from a tester pot.
The edges of the bases are painted in Coat d’arms Pale Sand (522)
And there you go!
Oh and the finished article:

Thanks Michael. The photos are particularly useful.
I usually use browner more earthy tones for my bases and ground, which doesn’t translate well to a desert theme. I will pop down to Hobbycraft and see what I can find.
The craft acrylic colours I have are a bit thicker than the hobby paints, which probably gives them a bit more durability.26/09/2018 at 11:40 #100213
Late to the party for The Cromstarter!
As far as the stakes go (thinner ones look better), could you make an alternative base of rocks or similar that fit into the slot the stakes go in. An option for those people, or times, that don’t need stakes.26/09/2018 at 17:53 #100247MikeKeymaster

Very rough sketch for a Tribal Queen.
I was going to leave the warrior chief as the main dude for the Utuseb range, but figured a kick ass double handed sword wielding woman would be better.
Scuse my cruddy concept sketches…06/10/2018 at 11:11 #100940

Cool to see progress toward the Crom funder – and, ooh, a new mini possible too!
She looks like she could kick some A*s!
although her feet could definitely use some work – you’ve done her no favours there! – No wonder she looks so fierce…..09/10/2018 at 07:59 #101093
The train also queen is lovely, but I’m not sure about the sword. I know it’s a quick sketch but did you have plans for the blade?
Personally id like to see something with a bit of shape to it. Perhaps gently widening so the tip end is slightly wider than the hilt end, or with one straight edge and a gracefully curving edge.
Not a fan of the random jagged look 😜09/10/2018 at 07:59 #101094
Did you get to work on your rocks over the weekend, if you don’t mind me asking…09/10/2018 at 09:56 #101112

Fnnar not sure TWW is that kind of site!
No, not really, will attempt some work today.

It will be fashioned from a large piece of black onyx as is the practice of the people of Utuseb.09/10/2018 at 15:13 #101131
Is the Tribal Queen meant to be a possible object of desire for the hero? Just wondering as she is so curvy as compared to the more brutish stockiness of her menfolk.

Plasticine, just to make the ground a bit bumpy.
It is all covered in pumice sand gel stuff.
Ha Ha, nope we are moving house so most things are all packed away!

The Evil Cultists have been captured and will be taken to the Priests of Apis to face justice.
But how do we stop them just running away?

No, not even started yet I am afraid, I am trying out a new guy as one of my regular people has increased his costs by about 20% 🙁
Now, below is a very crude quick rough trial, but when we have moved house I will be very much making some stuff using this material.
I can see potential.15/10/2018 at 15:04 #101574Lost EggParticipant
