Just to be a voice of dissent, I’d definitely buy resin rocks. Yes, I could make my own but I really like resin cast terrain.

A grain mill then?
If you like small scale skirmish, check out http://planetares6.blogspot.be/?m=016/03/2017 at 12:03 #59371jagannathParticipant
but I really like resin cast terrain.
May I ask why?
Is it a durability / strength thing?
Or convenience, in that you don’t have to make anything?
Or summat else?
Yeah – I don’t have great storage space so terrain tends to get stored in tubs. I do my best to be careful but I just find the paint jobs on resin after a gloss coat and then a matte is really durable and I don’t have to worry about denting it, unlike foam. I also don’t always have a huge amount of hobby time, so terrain needs to be fairly quick – basically I’m happy to buy instead of make generally, so I can spend my time on minis.20/03/2017 at 13:35 #59578
The oven is done, will mould it up and add it to the site next week along with the well.
So rock n roll eh?25/03/2017 at 07:54 #597806mmwargamingParticipant
Wow the stuff you are doing for this is fantastic
My site http://6mm.wargaming.info/25/03/2017 at 10:06 #59790
Thanks, it is all pretty alien to me, being so big.25/03/2017 at 10:54 #59793
Two new items heading to Crom’s Anvil in a few days:
Oven and Tent.
Villagers gotta eat and heroes gotta sleep.25/03/2017 at 16:48 #5980127/03/2017 at 12:57 #59835
So a painted oven:
And some rocky outcrops that will be cast up once done.29/03/2017 at 19:47 #59919
So I am working on a pack of things for village life:
A water trough.
A small selection of wares laid out on the ground, food type stuff in baskets.
What about some clutter than is propped up on the side of walls like in this image?
I am thinking a small scenic base with items as part of the base that you just butt up against the wall.30/03/2017 at 14:52 #59954AnonymousInactive
I am interested in buying some of this.31/03/2017 at 14:46 #5998901/04/2017 at 14:53 #60025AnonymousInactive
Cheers, much on the workbench at the moment. In the meanwhilstime, I bought myself a couple of camels from Irregular, they are pretty nifty, will go back for some more methinks.
Unlike the Irregular figures I bought many years ago those look very nice. Rotare, Satanus! Or whatever the actual spelling is…01/04/2017 at 14:55 #60026AnonymousInactive
The oven might make a useful stand in for a large Horno in 25mm gaming.01/04/2017 at 15:29 #60029
Unlike the Irregular figures I bought many years ago those look very nice.
I used to stock their stuff a good few years back and the 6mm Naps were ok, but one day I found a chap that had the same models but from years ago when the moulds were much newer, the difference was amazing.03/04/2017 at 09:50 #60063
So, there is a chunk of new stuff coming to the site this week.
Some extra bits for the village of Simurgh.
Some bits actually on Uteseb.
And a new page that will have terrain, but I am wondering what to call this page.
It will be generic, bushes, trees, rocks etc.
So I was thinking of calling it “Open Steppe”
Any suggestions, thoughts?05/04/2017 at 19:15 #6023707/04/2017 at 18:35 #60374PaulParticipant
Mike, any chance of you bringimg out your own 15mm Conan-type stuff? I wont order from North Star because there is no option for paypal.
Those are brave men knocking at our door. Let's go kill them!07/04/2017 at 18:46 #60376
I know what you mean.
They are the only exception I have made for PayPal only purchases, their models are just too nice to not buy.
I did approach them about stocking them, but was told it is not an option, which was a shame.
As for making my own?
I am looking into it, but a lot of the sculpts I see are not as good when it comes to the mostly naked form.
Clothed people are a lot more forgiving to sculpt, in fact so much so more forgiving I will be having a bash at a few myself.
Plus they are much costlier than 6mm and breaking even would be a massive concern.
I have been unable to find a suitable baddy sorcerer so I may have a few goes at one of them and see what people think and maybe start a line of easier but still nice 15mm character types myself, with only the mould cost to worry about, if I get to an acceptable standard I could be making a fair few!07/04/2017 at 19:27 #60386Darkest Star GamesParticipant
Can’t wait to see how your sculpting comes out! Ya, recouping is difficult in the short run for niche genre in a niche within a conundrum… Long game, not so bad, but not so with the short game.

great idea, love Conan and 15mm fantasy…..I’m building a Stygian Empire army based on ancient Persian with many subject tribes and strange beasts…..their war beasts are actually GW Warhammer stegadon, big beasties lol
i look forward to more of your stuff

Stick some piccies in a topic here and let’s see them!
Also, if you have any spare miniatures that would be handy for the skirmish games let me know, happy to buy a few.
One of the problems I am finding is that single figures are very hard to come by (at least ones I like).09/04/2017 at 19:12 #60440AnonymousInactive

Rocks and tent arrived yesterday. More tents needed for wilderness adventures- rocks are great and I like the style, resin notwithstanding.
Maybe after wife retires I can bring her back into FRPG…
I will need Gnome PCs for her… in 15mm, I have 25+mm well covered.18/04/2017 at 13:43 #6081018/04/2017 at 14:13 #60812

Whoa! Say what?
PayPal (and I) beg to differ.
