The second game in our 15mm Havana Sharp Practice campaign was a lot of fun with some interesting Cuban/Spanish units. This game inspired by the Stuart Imsch booklet Against Spain: Wargaming the Sieges of Havana and Manila 1762-1764. This scenario takes place 6 miles or so from the Cojimar beaches, June 8, 1762. The Spanish send out forces to oppose the Crown advance and planned on meeting them along a ridge outside of Guanabacoa.

That looks like it was a great game. Bummer that some of the Spanish side was firing at their own guys, I guess that’s what happens in the fog of war. I’m mildly surprised at the loses of the British gunners and ineffective grenadiers, and thought the Spanish flanking and the horse would have done a bit more. Still, a believable outcome, and that’s pretty cool.

We were also surprised at the performance of the grenadiers. Should’ve just advanced and charged the Habana guys. Historically the dragoons were ineffectual — but neat to have a mounted uniformed unit like that in the Islands.

They probably didn’t bang their coconuts together loud enough to sound like a larger more threatening force. 😀

Excellent looking game and thanks for the wargaming eye candy.
