We take on the matrix game of Alexander Hamilton at Yorktown again, with a new umpire. Will Hamilton storm Redoubt 10 before the French take Redoubt 9? The game starts here.

Following, thanks!!!16/05/2020 at 16:56 #136510
Turn 1 saw my defensive fire go high; Hamilton’s sappers started hacking at the abatis in front of Redoubt 10. Something is wrong with our bloody dice today.
The French advanced under a withering fire from Redoubt 9, taking losses that lowered morale. They also didn’t put the sappers forward and will wait while those lads sprint to the front.

Turn 2 sees both Allied battalions stalled in front of the abatis, in one case due to a silly order and argument. Details here.
The lockdown seems to have inspired some silly arguments. But my lads in Redoubt 10 were all business. Fire!

Very silly arguments!!!20/05/2020 at 16:36 #136736
Turn 3 see the Allies getting a tad less silly and pressing the attack. My garrison fires a withering volley into Hamilton’s Light Infantry. Scroll down for turn 3.

Turn 4 sees both Allied battalions advance under heavy fire, withering fire fro my redoubt 10. Scroll down for Turn 4.

The British seem to be doing very well.24/05/2020 at 10:39 #136946
That can change rapidly once those big Allied battalions close with bayonets. We’ve been aided by some enemy decisions that wasted time. Going forward as fast as possible is their only route to victory.
I don’t know what the umpire has done with unit strengths, but in the actual fight each storming battalion was 400 strong, Redoubt 9 was 130 strong and my Redoubt 10 had a garrison of 70. I’ve caused about 20 casualties to Hamilton’s Light Infantry so far and eroded their morale.

Turn 5 is in the books.
A two-minute turn took a week to resolve. The lockdown twists time in strange ways.
Both storming battalions have yet to reach the redoubts. The garrisons continue to fire volleys into them. In the case of my Redoubt 10, we apparently aimed in the air this turn…

Turn 6 is done. Lockdown fever and news overload seems to be taking a toll. The two-minute turn took about a week. The French and the Continentals continue their assault on the redoubts. Details are here.

The British are running out of ammo!!! At them with bayonets !!07/06/2020 at 12:03 #137756
Methinks we will stay behind our parapet. I have a devilish plan for the next turn. It may even work…

A cunning plan??!!12/06/2020 at 20:48 #138093
Blimey! My plot worked but then my troops missed! The French first rush on Redoubt 9 was thrown back. Details here.
Hamilton is down, bleeding from the head.

Both the French and Hamilton’s battalion have been repulsed from the redoubts. French morale is looking fragile. How much fight do Hamitlon’s Light Infantry still have? Major Campbell has somehow fallen out of his redoubt. I suspect he was struck by a large six-sided die.

Hamilton’s lads have been repulsed from the parapet of Redoubt 10 again but still are up for the fight.
Can my redcoats drive them off again?

I appreciate your interest. There will be a halt for a while. We fled the city for a rural place on the coast of Maine and will be returning to the city later this week. Much preparing and such, Real Life getting in the way of gaming.
