I am curretly painting up some 15mm alien grey figures and I want to use them with my Modern infantry figures as an opponent.

What kind of scenarios for a campaign could I use so that I get a lot of use out of them without playing the same type of story for each game?

I also have some scientist, and figures wearing environmental suits, and some creepy crawly aliens, so I can play the usual suspects – i.e. capture the alien, fight off the aliens, protect the scientists, but I am scratching my noggin to come up with other ideas.

What I don’t have is civilian or police figures… I might need to get some.

Rebel Miniatures has some great Cop figures in 15mm  along with civilians and rioters.

As for scenarios, just raid some X-file episodes .  One of my favorite ones was the fake aliens finding out there are real aliens !!

If you get some civilians and/or cops, you could do some sort of hostage scenario.

Also, the hazmat suited guys could be used in a similar fashion to the scientists, having them go into an alien spaceship to gather data of some sort. If you give the humans a couple of them, the challenge being to get in, complete the mission and get at least one of them out alive. Pretty basic I guess, but it’s a classic for a reason 🙂

I like Alexander’s idea. The human mission consists of both soldiers and noncombatants, the latter being necessary to perform critical technical tasks, so the soldiers have to escort the noncombatants around.

    Otherwise:

Destroy the alien device (eg. a beacon or a computer nexus). It should be easy enough to model a grey alien device or several as some kind of smooth-surfaced, nondescript, inscrutable-looking thing.

Prevent the aliens performing critical technical tasks at various specific locations across the board. Maybe they’re trying to set up several smaller devices as part of some array.

Rescue scientists or civilians that have already been abducted.

My approach to a lot of these games is from  that of humor and whimsy, so I offer many of these not as hard combat games, but with light role-play and much laughing in mind.  Also, the aliens might not always be the aggressor.

Capture or stop the capture of the human(s).

Stop the aliens without killing them.

    Capture the alien.

Aliens stop for repairs, just trying to get what they need (bumble bees, a vacuum cleaner, whatever) and get out of here.

MIB v. KGB sleeper cell starring in …Get to the Aliens First.

Two groups of aliens, one trying to stop the other from hurting/interfering with the humans, while humans try to kill them all.

Aliens stop for cocaine, battle the drug lord, street gang, crime boss, etc.

Aliens here to capture a puppy for their leader,  good old boys want their dog back.

Aliens stop for booze (could be something silly like some cola, motor oil, something not obvious).

Steal the flying saucer. Could be the army, bunch of rednecks, groups of boy scouts, etc.

Add in the MIB interfering as they might to any scenario to magnify the chaos.

Aliens become secretly friends with some local people…  (“La Soupe aux choux”, 1981, with French actor Louis de Funès).

Great ideas… in fact, playing the Aliens would be a lot more fun than playing the Humans.

I am also putting together a ‘not falling skies’ game which would be a game for playing the Humans, but with the Greys, I think this approach would be a much better option.

    Cheers!

Not a bad idea, could lead to some interesting interaction during the game.

Unfortunately I can not unwatch that video though.

I am waiting for the exchange rate between the US and AUD to improve a bit. I really with Rebel minis and Khurasan had stockists in Australia or the UK, as there is some much that I want to get.

Very X-com in some ways… why I forgot about X-com is beyond me, as I have the games and love playing them.

This is starting to be fun – I am creating mission cards for the game. There is some great art work on the intermaweb to help with the cards. As the cards wont be sold, I don’t hesitate to use the images for personal use.

Basically I have two sets of Aliens – those empty handed or with probes, and those with weapons.

So the game can be broken down in to teams or single figures, and each team/individual draws a mission card that they must complete. The more missions completed by the end of the game, the more points scored. The more poinst scored, the greater the win.

Each suggestion made above could have two missions based on the idea.

For example, the drug score mission: an alien could be out to buy some drugs, or they could be the local dealer, and try to sell some drugs.

With the booze mission, the aliens might need to buy some booze (and need to convince someone of a legal age to buy it for them) or they are selling moonshine from a still.

If I can get some 15mm cows, they can steal cattle for tests, kill cattle for weapon tests, go cow tipping for sh^ts and giggles.

And of course there are crop circles!

This is a sample of some of the cards I have made so far:

I have the same in 15mm as a simple linear campaign based on some central characters (Dukes of Hazzard types).   I was simply going to start off with the good old boys finding some greys in a field with cows, so they bring out the shotguns and “get stuck in”.    Then depending on the result either chase the greys back to the mother ship in a forest or then be chased back to town.

The forest stage would find Hunters, Dope growers and survivalists to aid the farmers etc. Heading back to town would be Cops, national guard, Scientists and Digruntled postmen etc.

Those cards are ace, good work Shelldrake.

Greys out to score booze or drugs makes me think of Roger from animated show American dad 🙂

I wonder how hard it would be to make a dope crop as a piece of scenery…

I have almost finished my first six greys – just waiting on some paint to dry so that I can varnish them.

Some of the figures have probes, which I painted gold (the probes, not the aliens), but now I am wondering if I should paint the probes pink or some other bright colour.

Thanks, but I can’t take credit for it, as I found it whilst searching for images to use on my cards.

How about adapting the story-line from “Spaced Invaders”  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59NfUZ30XmA
