As many might know, my WW2 ‘scale’ is 20mm, but my freelance work for PSC often means I have to paint 15mm as well. But a couple of months ago, PSC asked me to do up some 28mm tanks from the new Rubicon range they are stocking. This isnt a size I have ever really worked with for WW2 before so its a bit new for me!
The first is a 28mm Panther painted to represent one of 21st Panzer Divisions surviving tanks after the end of Operation Nordwind. The white winter camouflage has been dirtied and removed during combat operations. The scheme is inspired by some 21st Panzer Panthers photographed near the Hagenau Forest in January 1945.
Rubicon 1/56th Panther Ausf. G… have to say, dont like working in 28mm, I find it really hard work and im a little dissapointed with the end result. Looking forward to some more civilised 20mm vehicles!
The second model was the Rubicon T34/76… a rather bizarre mish-mash of early war and mid war parts to make what would in reality be a very rare vehicle!
The models may not be to your taste Piers but they’re beautifully painted!
Whoa indeed!
That is absolutely stunning work.
Wowzer !!!!
Mother!?!
Cheers guys.
PSC seem happy with them for their display so hopefully they will help shift a few kits at shows!
My word…unbelievable!
“The great Gaels of Ireland are the men that God made mad,
For all their wars are merry, and all their songs are sad.”
Yeah, that looks friggen amazing 🙂
I wish my ‘disappointing end results’ looked like yours. I’d be a very happy man. Great work!
