    What armoured vehicles did the Germans deploy in Norway in 1940 if any?

    If you happen to have a book suggestion that gives specifics, I’d appreciate it.

    Ditto for the French. I am reading the official British history of the campaign and they mention “some light tanks” but do not seem to get into more detail than that.

    Best wishes

    There are a few units mentioned in Niehorster.

    H39s, FTs & P178s (21 EAM);

    Pz I, Pz II, Befehlspanzer I and a few Neubaufahrzeug. Maybe 8-rad SdKfz 232s by the looks of the organisation charts.

    There’s also this Weserübung group on Facebook who might have more info.

    I was skeptical of the 8-rads, but they do appear in a photo from Norway, 1940: https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205235300.  Either the kampfgruppe of Regiment ‘General Goring’ that landed in Oslo, or the recon battalion of 69. Infanterie-Division in Stavanger.  None of the other units appear to have rated armored cars.

    As Les said for the tanks, which are all from Panzer-Abteilung z.b.V. 40.

    There are also photos of Sd.Kfz. 221 series armored cars in the brief Denmark campaign.  Most of the motorised troops were subsequently sent to France, but those vehicles were at least present in the theater, whether or not they made it to Norway.

    Niehorster is excellent, if dense.  The Osprey Campaign book on Operation Weserubung is also a solid piece of work.
