In the second part of my Bantry Bay Project post I take a look at the type of ships likely used by the French to transport their troops.
Usually used to act as targets in naval wargames, the look of the game can be enhanced with an appropriate model or two to capture the look of these workhorse vessels.

Superb!
BTW, although of little interest at this scale, the oldest French boat in history still in good condition today is the admiral’s shallop, now called “la yole de Bantry“ which was captured by coastguard militia in 1796.

Hi Patrice,
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the post and thank you for the links, I had seen the mention of the Yawl in Dublin Musuem but I didn’t know there was a sailing replica.
I have a trip to Ireland in mind to follow up on this little project as the scenery is delightful as is the food.
Cheers
JJ
