Hood’s army has been on half rations, dug in on the cold hills overlooking Nashville for nearly two weeks, waiting for a miracle to deliver the city to this ragged, outnumbered force. Instead, on December 15, 1864 Thomas’ blue-coated legions begin marching out of their fortified lines to attack the Confederates. This is not quite what Hood was hoping for.
Nice one – we’ve only done 1st Bull Run from the ACW – we should do more
We have played Shiloh some 5 or 6 times over the last two+ years. It’s quite a tense scenario. The Wilderness has given us a couple good games. Gettysburg is also a good one. On our list for the future is Spotsylvania. I can also suggest my other ACW scenario, Champion Hill. It is the battle that sealed the fate of Vicksburg and really quite decisive in spite of the rather small size (in BBB terms), somewhere over 50,000 total combatants.
